About Haryana

Haryana is one of the 29 states of India, Haryana Became the 20th state of India on 1st Nov 1966, prior to this Haryana was under Punjab state. Currently Haryana has has 21 Districts. This state is located in North-West region of India and surrounded by Rajasthan from its South, Uttrakhand from its North East, Himachal Pradesh from its North, Punjab from its North West and Delhi, UP from its East. Smallest district of Haryana is Panchakula & largest district of Haryana is Bhiwani.

Haryana's total area is 44,212 km2 i.e.(17,070 sq mi) out of this 1,586 km2 area is covered with forest.

Population of Haryana

As per Census 2011 Haryana's total population is 25,351,462 & it is ranked 18th state in India as per the population & the Density here is 573/km2 and density rank is 11 in country.

In Haryana 8,842,103 population lives in Urban Area which is 34.88% of total population and 16,510,978 people lives in rural area which is 65.12% of total population. As of December 2015 the sex ration here is 903 females/ 1000 males. Life expectancy of this state is 66.2.

Literacy rate of Haryana

Literacy rate of Haryana State is 71.42% in rural area and 83.14% in urban area.

Agricultural status of Haryana

Haryana has 2 agricultural climate zones. Haryana's northwestern part is suitable for Wheat, Rice, temperate fruits and Vegetables where as South-western part is appropriate for good quality herbal and medical plants, exotic vegetables and tropical fruits. Total 3.7 m ha area of Haryana is cultivable and its 84% of total geographical area of Haryana. And out of total 3.7 m ha cultivable area 98% of area which 3.64 m ha is being used for agriculture.
